Anthems is a festival of non-stop bangers.

Set on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in Australia’s capital, the lineup is a throwback of iconic Aussie anthems from musos like Icehouse, John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite, Eskimo Joe and more.

Created for an older festival demographic wanting to enjoy the songs from their youth, the brief suggested design that would evoke nostalgia.

Keep it retro, but make it modern.

The typographic style of the logo is reminiscent of the seventies, embracing vintage themes with big chunky type and warm, faded colours. A vintage filter captures the feeling of time, referencing old-school technologies and the retro revival.

Custom mix tape illustrations speak to the mood the festival creates, celebrating the golden hits of the past. Creating cohesiveness across print and digital promotions, including posters, banners, advertisements, the seating map and entry collateral, festival branding is rousing and uplifting — as an anthem should be.

You guys did such an amazing job, from start to finish. I’m incredibly proud of the branding. I look forward to potentially working together again in future.
