The Yarn is a shared library space designed to thread the people of Hunters Hill closer together.

With room for meeting, reading, learning, connecting, teaching, playing and inspiring, everyone is welcome to come spin a yarn.

Confirming the opening of the very first library in Hunters Hill since its establishment in 1861, Council knew it needed an inspiring, imaginative and intelligent brand experience.

Who knows the local experience better than the local agency?

Playful, dynamic logo design presents an abstract version of yarn strings through fun, interesting shapes. These brand elements also stand for varied members of the community and the colourful way shared spaces bring people together.

Cursive heading and signage typography echo the effect of string, while tying into The Yarn’s educational themes. Body typography is easy to read, web-safe and universally accessible — important factors for a Council space.

Bright and eye-catching, the brand identity retains a sense of softness through its sorbet palette and rounded elements. Standing apart from other tenants in the immediate area, The Yarn provides visitors with a joyful and whimsical brand experience.

Big, bold and unmissable, the brand uses scale to its advantage. By commanding shared zones with massive design statements, the library has the opportunity to build brand intrigue and familiarity within the local community.
