QBE is an Australian-founded, multinational insurance company operating in several countries across North America, Europe and Asia.

As an Australian-listed company, it is important that QBE’s global legal frameworks comply with Australian law. To achieve this and to promote learning and communication between the different jurisdictions, QBE legal counsels around the world needed to work collaboratively and improve communication and mutual support.

The Being Group CEO Siebert Neethling supported the Group Legal Counsel to design and facilitate a dynamic conference, bringing together the legal specialists from all QBE businesses.

The first QBE Global Legal Leadership Team conference in Sydney in 2016, brought QBE’s legal counsels together from around the world for the first time.

Facilitated by Siebert, the conference enabled attendees to find common ground and communicate better to resolve issues, while developing the overall culture of the group. Counsels left with an improved sense of common purpose, and the academic and theoretical collaboration principles needed to take their learnings to their own teams.

Since that first conference, Siebert has facilitated every conference for the group – on four occasions, in Sydney, Singapore and London.

With themes of resilience and making a difference, conferences have seen high-quality guest speakers on key issues, such as insurance as it relates to environmental issues and natural disasters.

Facilitation of these conferences has resulted in a highly unified team with a positive culture that has been able to enhance its reputation inside the company with exceptional work, setting a benchmark for any global legal team.
